The School of Film was founded on July 22nd, 2004, pursuant to Law no. 3225/2004 (Government Gazette 138/22.7.2004, issue II) and along with seven (7) other Schools, within the framework of the Higher Education Expansion project. It was incorporated into the Faculty of Fine Arts, becoming its fourth School. The School of Film first opened its doors in the academic year 2004-2005.
The School of Film aims to promote the art of filmmaking, within the framework of broad audiovisual education, through applied research and teaching activities. Moreover, it aims to provide students with advanced knowledge in the main subjects taught in the programme and with theoretical and practical training directly related to their main field of study, qualifying them for employment in the public and private sector. The School offers students the theoretical and critical tools necessary for research at a more advanced level.
